Welcome to Married Life Ministry
Today there is no greater contribution to society than to have strong marriages and healthy families walking out of the church on Sunday and into the culture on Monday. Good relationships are contagious and we are discovering ways to encourage and equip couples wherever they are in their marriage journey. It is important that our church do more for marriage than host weddings.

Some say that only those whose marriage is in trouble go to marriage classes and events. We would argue the opposite. Taking care of your marriage is no different than taking care of your health—well fed, exercised and a check up from time to time. And if there are bumps along the way and you need helping digging in to transform your marriage to the way that God intended, we can help guide the way. We invite you to join us!

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 9:9-12
Couple Check Up

Couple Check Up: How is your marriage?

Couple Checkup is an online assessment for couples.   Whether you are dating, engaged or married, this powerful and eye-opening tool is taken individually by you and your partner or spouse.

The Couple Checkup was developed by Dr. David Olson and Dr. Peter Larson of Life Innovations, Inc. The Couple Checkup is designed to help you and your partner build a more satisfying and intimate relationship. Just answering the questions will stimulate thoughts and attitudes about your marriage.

The results of the assessment, seen only by you and your partner, are a great opportunity to see how your relationship is doing.  Not only does it point out your strengths, but it uncovers areas that could use improvement.  The results come with practical suggestions and ideas on how to approach these subjects and build your relationship/marriage muscle.  Simply click on the link below to get started.

Serving Together

It’s been said that couples who pray together stay together. We’d like to add “serve together” into that component of staying together as well!

In our very busy married lives with or without children it is sometimes hard to find time to do something together. Just the two of you-as a team. We’d invite you to consider serving together. Whether it’s inside or outside the walls of church you will be doing good for others, doing good for Christ’s kingdom and doing good for your marriage.

Here are just a few ways that you can serve together at Grace.

  • Facilitate or host a small group for special studies or Lent In the Living Room.
  • Co-teach a Sunday school class of children, youth or adults. Consider an age group of people that you might be able to mentor or make an impact on with your life stories.
  • Lead a team for Project 180 (construction, hospitality, festival outreach, prayer)
  • Join the Sacristy team and help fill cups and prepare trays for Communion.
  • Greet or usher together on Sunday mornings or for special services.
  • Sing in the Chancel Choir together.
  • Make Grace-To-Go visits together to people who are unable to come to church.
  • Go on a mission trip together.

For information and ideas on how you can serve together at Grace, contact Beth Craig at 713-267-5012.

Marriage Counseling

If you are interested in speaking with someone about your marriage there are two options we recommend. The first is any Grace pastor is happy to speak with you or can recommend a direction for your needs at the time.

Outside of the church, we recommend the Interface Samaritan Counseling Center 713-626-7990. There is an Interface counselor on the Grace campus on Wednesdays.

Presbyterian Women have a “Cope With Hope” fund for women receiving counseling who may need financial assistance with the sessions.

Please call Rev. Mike Fry if you have any questions regarding counseling at Grace or about referrals 713.267.5066.
